Tanabe Pharma Canada is Now Shionogi Canada Inc.

 

TORONTO, April 1, 2026 – Tanabe Pharma Canada, Inc. (TPC), a subsidiary of Tanabe Pharma America, Inc. (TPA), today announced the change of its corporate name to Shionogi Canada Inc. (SCI), effective immediately.

 

In December 2025, TPA’s parent company, Tanabe Pharma Corporation (TP), entered into a definitive agreement to transfer its global RADICAVA® business to Shionogi & Co., Ltd., which includes the acquisition of 100% of the shares of TPC by Shionogi Inc.  TPC is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Shionogi Inc. and will continue to market RADICAVA® in Canada.

 

Shionogi Canada Inc. is proud to build upon the legacy of Tanabe Pharma Canada, which has been supporting the Canadian ALS community since 2018. While the company’s name has changed, the dedicated team behind its unwavering commitment to advancing care for people affected by this devastating disease remains the same.

 

Under Shionogi’s global leadership, SCI will continue to pursue the research and development of innovative medicines that address unmet needs for people with serious and difficult-to-treat diseases.
