Shionogi supports two research grant foundations, the "Hoansha Foundation" and the "The Cell Science Research Foundation".
Hoansha Foundation
Hoansha Foundation, a public interest incorporated foundation, was established in 1954 by the will of Mr. Gisaburo Shiono, the second president of Shionogi & Co., Ltd., using his personal property as its base, to provide financial assistance to individuals or corporations for research on pharmaceutical science.
Since then, for over 60 years, the foundation has been engaged in the following activities.
1 Grants for research on pharmaceutical science, etc.
2 Other activities necessary to achieve its purpose.
The Cell Science Research Foundation
The Cell Science Research Foundation, a public interest incorporated foundation, was established with the contribution made by Shionogi & Co., Ltd. in 1988 to commemorate the 110th anniversary of Shionogi’s founding. The purpose of the foundation is to promote life science that contributes to the elucidation of etiology and disease conditions as well as the prevention and treatment of disease by providing financial assistance to research on cell science, training of researchers, and promotion of international exchanges.
The foundation is engaged in the following activities.
1 Grants for research related to cell science, training of researchers, and promotion of international exchanges.
2 Reward for outstanding achievements in the progress and development of research on cell science.
3 Holding various lectures and symposiums on cell science.
4 Other necessary activities to achieve the purpose of the foundation.
