The SHIONOGI Group makes decisions based on the Procurement Policy and the Business Partner Code of Conduct, which set out the Group’s basic approach and are designed to ensure that all procurement activity is founded on honesty, accuracy, fairness,and transparency.

Participation in PSCI

We are happy to announce that SHIONOGI joined in the Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Initiative (PSCI) in August, 2017. The PSCI is a non profit organization which promotes of the sustainable procurement in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry. The number of PSCI member companies is on the increase and more than 50 companies join in the PSCI now.


The basic principles adopted under the PSCI cover a comprehensive range of fields, including not only environment and health and safety but also human rights and labor, ethics, and their associated management systems. In 2020, the principles were revised, and further items added.

SHIONOGI will continue to support the revised principles and strongly urge all suppliers to endorse them throughout the value chain.

Declaration

Declaration of Partnership Building

We have announced the Declaration of Partnership Building in support of the purpose of the Council on Promoting Partnership Building for Cultivating the Future, which is promoted by the Cabinet Office and the Small and Medium Enterprise Agency. We will focus on the following two actions in order to buildwith the aim of building new partnerships by promoting cooperation, coexistence, and co-prosperity with our suppliers in the supply chain and businesses seeking to create value.

 

1. Initiatives to increase the value added throughout the supply chain,cooperation beyond the existing business relationships and company size

  •     •Together with our business partners, we will enhance compliance and risk management related to human rights, labor, and health and safety and will work on sustainable procurement.
    •     •We will improve engagement with our business partners and promote greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction throughout the supply chain with the aim of achieving Science Based Targets (SBTs).

White Logistics Movement

On December 4, 2019, the SHIONOGI Group submitted a declaration of voluntary action in support of the White Logistics Movement led by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.

The White Logistics Movement contributes to securing stable logistics, which are necessary for citizens’ daily lives and industrial activities, and developing the economy through enhanced productivity and logistics efficiency. This movement also aims to address the truck driver shortage. The movement is intended to realize a more pleasant and comfortable work environment for various drivers, including women and those aged 60 or over.
