Deaflympic is an international multi-sport event for deaf athletes held every four years, organized by the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (ICSD).
In order to realize the SHIONOGI Group Heritage of "SHIONOGI strives constantly to supply the best possible medicine to protect the health and wellbeing of the patients we serve," Shionogi believes that it is important for the necessary information to reach patients properly. In 2016, Shionogi launched the "Communication Barrier-Free Project" to address communication challenges in medical settings for individuals with hearing impairments. We have been sharing issues faced by individuals with hearing impairments in medical facilities, as well as solutions, with approximately 20,000 healthcare professionals in Japan.
We see TOKYO 2025 DEAFLYMPICS as an opportunity to raise awareness about communication barriers that may arise from hearing impairments, which are often not immediately noticeable, and to expand the scope of our efforts.
We will continue to work towards delivering the "best medicine and its information" to everyone, regardless of their hearing status.
