Introduction of Renewable Energy to Major Sites (Plants and Research Centers)
The SHIONOGI Group (“SHIONOGI”) is actively promoting the introduction of electricity derived from renewable energy, with a particular focus on major sites, such as plants and research laboratories, to achieve its science-based targets for FY2030 (target: 46.2% reduction in Scopes 1 and 2 emissions compared with FY2019).
In line with the renewable energy electricity introduction plan formulated in FY2021 for major sites, we are pleased to report the completion of implementation at key facilities of Shionogi & Co., Ltd., including the head office building, Aburahi Research Center, CMC Innovation Center (including the Amagasaki Office of Shionogi Pharma Co., Ltd. located on the same premises), and the Pharmaceutical Research Center.
Currently, we are expanding this initiative to the energy-intensive plants of Shionogi Pharma Co., Ltd. With the completion of the introduction at the Settsu Plant in FY2024, the company-wide introduction rate of renewable energy electricity at SHIONOGI has risen to 55.8%, successfully achieving an annual reduction of approximately 26,000 tCO₂ emissions.
To achieve a company-wide renewable energy electricity introduction rate of 90% or more by 2030, we will continue working to complete the implementation at the remaining plants of Shionogi Pharma Co., Ltd.
