Shionogi Included in Stock Indices (Index) for ESG Investing: FTSE4Good Index Series and FTSE Blossom Japan Index
- Shionogi Has Become the Constituent of the All Four Indices Used by Japan's Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF) -

OSAKA, Japan, July 9, 2020 - Shionogi & Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Osaka, Japan; President and CEO: Isao Teshirogi, Ph.D.; hereafter "Shionogi") today announced that Shionogi has been included in global stock indices for environmental, social and governance (ESG): the FTSE4Good Index Series and the FTSE Blossom Japan Index.

The FTSE4Good Index Series is developed by FTSE Russell, a member of London Stock Exchange Group. It is designed based on the existing international ESG standards to select companies that demonstrate strong ESG efforts. The FTSE Blossom Japan Index is an index created by FTSE Russell to measure the performance of Japanese companies with excellent responses to ESG issues, and it is designed to be unbiased across industries. These indices are broadly used as important criteria by global investors who focus on each companies' ESG efforts.

With these designations, Shionogi has become the constituent of the all four indices for ESG investing used by Japan's Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF), one of the world's largest pension funds: FTSE Blossom Japan Index, MSCI Japan ESG Select Leaders Index, MSCI Japan Empowering Women Index (WIN), and S&P/JPX Carbon Efficient Index.
