Shionogi has been recognized for “Leaderboard” in the “Supplier Engagement Leaderboard (Climate Change)”
by CDP

OSAKA, Japan, February 16, 2021 - Shionogi & Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Osaka, Japan; President and CEO: Isao Teshirogi, Ph.D.; hereafter "Shionogi" ) has announced shionogi was earned the highest rank “Supplier Engagement Leaderboard (Climate Change)” in the Supplier Engagement Rating (SER) conducted by CDP※1, a global non-profit organization working on environmental information disclosure. This is the first year in a row for the company to be named to the “Leaderboard” following Rated A- for “Climate Change” and Chosen as an A-List Company for “Water security” in December 2020.

SER evaluates companies by 4 categories (governance, targets, value chain (scope 3) emissions and supplier engagement strategies) in Climate Change. Companies (about 400 companies in the world, about 80 companies in Japan) were selected to the“Leaderboard” as companies implementing strategies and taking actions to reduce GHG emissions and manage climate risk in their supply chains.

Shionogi identified "Protect the Environment" as a corporately material issue to be addressed and set mid-to-long term environmental action targets based on the "Shionogi Group EHS※2 Policy".

We take the environmental initiatives not only in our business activities such as pharmaceuticals, clinical-laboratory drugs/instruments research, development, manufactuaring and sales, but also in the cooperation with business partners in the supply chain. We believe that CDP adimired these high level continuous efforts.

We will responsibly address and sharpen our response to various environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues, thereby contributing to the creation of sustainable societies and compatibly driving the company’s growth. Based on that approach, we will make a concerted effort to be a suitable company needed by all stakeholders in the future.
