Shionogi Continuously Selected for Inclusion in All ESG Indices Adopted by the Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF)

OSAKA, Japan, August 29, 2022 - Shionogi & Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Osaka, Japan; Chief Executive Officer: Isao Teshirogi, Ph.D.; hereafter "Shionogi") announced that SHIONOGI has been continuously selected for inclusion in all ESG indices for the Japanese equities adopted by the Government Pension Investment Fund (hereafter "GPIF").

Shionogi has been continuously selected as constituents in five ESG indices adopted by GPIF; FTSE Blossom Japan Index, FTSE Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index (launch on March 30, 2022), MSCI Japan ESG Select Leaders Index, MSCI Japan Empowering Women Index (WIN), and S&P/JPX Carbon Efficient Index. As a result, Shionogi has been included in all ESG indices adopted by GPIF for the 3rd consecutive year.

In addition, Shionogi has been selected as constituents in FTSE4 Good Index Series and MSCI ESG Leaders Indexes for the 3rd consecutive year, both of which are global major ESG indices. Thus, the sustainability of Shionogi has been highly regarded in terms of environmental (E), social (S) and governance (G) practices.

The above ESG indices are used by a wide variety of market participants to create and assess responsible investment funds and other products, and are broadly used as important criteria by global investors who focus on ESG efforts of each company.
